Vaccines are the most inexpensive means of improving health and lowering morbidity and mortality caused by infectious diseases in the world. In spite of significant advances in science and technology, the implementation of global vaccination coverage remains a pipe dream. In Taiwan, the major challenges are sub-optimal financing for the Foundation for Vaccination that supports the vaccination program and was established per Transmissible Disease Control Act. Effective strategies for solving the financing dilemma are critically significant for the public health and healthcare system of Taiwan.
