Abstract:

With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of the public health field has received a lot more attention compared to the past. In the year of 2020, the Public Health Specialists Act has been established in Taiwan, improving public health specialty and development for individuals in the field of public health. Yet, the professional development and manpower planning of public health specialists is currently lacking in Taiwan. To enable highquality professional public health specialists, the implementation of a systematic career planning is crucial. The responsibilities of public health specialists include conducting environmental health risk assessments, epidemiological investigations and disease prevention, health surveys and health promotion, food safety inspections and other tasks outlined by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in communities and public spaces. Hence, the purpose of this project is to design the professional development and manpower planning in the various career fields of public health
specialists.
